ABOUT STEFANIE

Stefanie has spent nearly five decades making and studying art, with ceramics at the heart of her practice. Raised on the West Coast, she earned a BFA in Ceramics and later a Master of Education, then taught art for many years in Eastern Ontario. Now based on Vancouver Island, she continues to draw inspiration from the island’s rugged shoreline, shifting light, and wild, layered landscapes.

Working primarily with hand-building techniques, Stefanie creates abstract sculpture and functional pottery shaped by a love of texture, pattern, and natural form. Her pieces are marked by a playful imagination, a love of art history and architecture, and a connection to the organic patterns found in plants and animals.
